For India to be successful economically it must open up her economy to capitalism, like China. India can grow very quickly if the politicians stop meddling and the bureaucrats are put back in the bottle.

India is a hugely important market for investment and development but India must remove the red-tape. Corruption is also a challenge, and once again, India should follow China’s example, with some highly publicized criminal prosecutions.

Tough steps against corruption soon, Modi says – The Times of India.

Perhaps, President Obama should give Mr. Modi, a tip like:

Speeches are fine to win elections but eventually you have to walk the talk!

I fear that the world and possibly Indian voters will tire quickly with Mr. Modi, if he does not deliver on promises. In particular, if Mr. Modi wants to create new jobs in India with foreign inward investment, he must deliver on reform.

As an expert in delivering strategic change, I can appreciate the size of Mr. Modi’s challenge. Perhaps, Mr. Modi should look to Gandhi‘s epic struggle for a few tips?

I would like to see the Times of India run a series entitled:

“How to remove corruption in India?

Any thoughts?
