The Telegraph reports a revolutionary approach to treating cancer using DNA tests can shrink tumours at six times the rates of conventional medicine, citing major trials in the US.

The Telegraph is a right-wing British newspaper with an elderly readership. Many of the Telegraph readers, members of their family or friends and associates have had cancer.

Rather than promise ground-breaking research to stimulate hope, why does the Telegraph not focus on available opportunities that are being denied by the NHS? UK cancer outcomes, as compared to say France or Germany, have a very poor record.

For me this leads to an important open question:

Why is the outcome from cancer treatment so much worse in the UK than other advanced countries like Germany?
