According to leading French news ageny France 24, hundreds of passengers were stranded for hours on five Eurostar high-speed trains after reports that migrants were blocking the tracks leading to the tunnel under the English Channel and were attempting to climb aboard.

The search lights at night and listening for refugees on the roof of the train is a horrifically vivid description. Between the refugees, the authorities and the passengers, one gets the impression that it’s the paying Eurostar passengers who are in the way.

I can understand the worries of the people in Turkey.

Turkey has grown in recent years, creating many jobs, on the back of inbound investment from major Western businesses.

But as Turkey has changed her foreign policy, Western businesses are increasing factoring in ‘political risk‘ in decisions about Turkey.

Without a clearer strategy, Turkey is likely to be regarded as more and more risky by foreign businesses. This will influence job opportunities and increase the fears of ordinary people.
