According to this important story from the Japan Times, Japan has lost to China in bidding to build Indonesia‘s first high-speed railway. The article reports that it is seen as a heavy blow to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Whilst there’s nothing wrong with China exporting both high-speed trains and nuclear power, there is a difference.

Nuclear reactors are a stepping stone to nuclear arms. Also there are risks of nuclear power installations and supplies falling into the hands of criminals and terrorists.
