This is an important article from China’s, semi-official and often outspoken newspaper, the Global Times. It’s a recommended read. Check it out!

If you read the article carefully you will see reference to how the UK chose to back China’s initiative against the advice of the US. This is geopolitics in action. David Cameron is to be admired for being the first major Western power to back the AIIB publicly – now others have followed.

This will be a sad moment for many Americans. Under Obama, the US foreign policy seems to have lost its way.

Europeans defy US, flag plans to join China-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank – Sydney Morning Herald

This story, first published in the FT, is now major news in Australia as well. The following excellent article (with video) from the Sydney Morning Herald is worth a read. Check it out!

This story is important in its own right but also as an example of how President Obama has presided over weakened US geopolitical influence. The leaders of China and Russia have been turning against Obama for some time. What is now significant is that the list includes the UK, France, Germany, Italy and perhaps Australia.  My nightmare scenario is of an angry, lame-duck, Obama taking excessive risks, in his final period in office, testing the limits of US presidential authority.
