The Independent reports that Andrea Leadsom is facing new scrutiny over her political background after she emerged as a serious contender to challenge Theresa May for the Conservative Party leadership. Though Ms Leadsom was a leading light in arguing for Brexit during the EU referendum campaign, she has faced criticism over her lack of experience at the highest level of government. Unlike all of her rivals in the Tory leadership contest, Ms Leadsom has never held a cabinet-level ministerial position. But most importantly her period at the Treasury apparently went very badly too.
Leadsom is a political lightweight, accused of doctoring her CV and underhand in her dealings – all she talks about is ‘being a mum’.
