According to this excellent article in the Washington Post, the new Syria deployments show how Obama’s war reality clashes with his war doctrine.

Obama incremental approach lacks overarching strategy – it’s wasteful and ineffective. History will probably not be kind to Obama foreign policy interventions, nor his style of leadership. His dithering, incremental approach has enfeebled America strength. For me, his actions have never matched his fine words.
