Here’s an excellent editorial from China‘s influential and often outspoken leading newspaper, Global Times (GT). It argues that ‘Many Americans would think Tillerson is showing weakness, but we see his statement as the most courageous expression from Washington regarding the Korean Peninsula issue’.

This is an important article not so much for what it says as what it doesn’t say. It’s a veiled criticism Trump’s foreign policy.

The GT is right though in highlighting America’s overwhelming military and political might over North Korea. The problem is that Trump’s leadership style and absence of political skills leaves him more likely to lean towards military options than diplomacy.
