This is a deeply worrying story about how the UK’s Conservative government are prepared to ignore consumer rights. It’s an important read. Check it out!

via Boots, Tesco and Superdrug to get access to NHS medical records – Telegraph.

Personally, I believe that the government is invading individual privacy. Firms like Boots and Tesco are extremely commercial and run by ambitious people.

I don’t live in the UK anymore but would be uncomfortable with firms like Boots and Tesco having access to my data. When I lived in the UK, I preferred to use an independent pharmacy.

Let me ask an open question:

Do you agree that the Conservative government should have consult the public, built in safeguards and provided opt-outs before giving medical records to the likes of Boots or Tesco?

Thoughts?
