Brexit stirs up Euroscepticism in the French right – EurActiv.com

EurActiv reports that nominally a supporter of the European project, Nicolas Sarkozy‘s Republican party has made increasingly frequent attacks on the European Commission (EC), which it accuses of “pushing out the UK and letting Turkey in”.

This is an amazing new development from the French Republican Party. Accusing the  EC of “pushing out the UK and letting Turkey in” is an amazing powerful rhetoric.

Personally, I would not be surprised with a major policy intervention from Germany‘s leader, Angela Merkel ahead of the Brexit vote. Although Merkel has often been slow to react, she might well reason that it will cost Germany less to intervene before the vote rather than pick up the damage if there’s a pro-Brexit vote.

Merkel Feels Heat From Backing Prosecution of Erdogan Satirist – Bloomberg

Bloomberg reports that Chancellor Angela Merkel, already weakened by Europe’s refugee crisis, came under fire over the weekend for granting a Turkish request to prosecute a German satirist who derided President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Once again Merkel has been outfoxed by Erdogan.

With Germany being the strongest country in Europe, many people are deeply worried at Angela Merkel’s policy shifts in favor of Turkey.

Personally, I struggle to see Merkel surviving. The immigration/refugee crisis will deepen as the summer advances and all the failures will be placed at Merkel’s door.

Is it time for Germany to remove Angela Merkel?
