According to Washington newspaper The Hill, President Obama is poised for a major diplomatic victory on the Iran nuclear deal when Congress returns to Washington next week.

This an amazing read, providing behind the scenes view of American politics.

I was also interested to read that Dick Cheney, the former vice president, ‘called the agreement a “train wreck” and is planning to give a speech denouncing the deal at the hawkish American Enterprise Institute on Tuesday’. It will interesting to read a transcrift of Cheney’s speech.

Personally, I’m deeply uncomfortable with the proposed Iran deal. For me, President Obama’s foreign policy record has been a disaster, and I have no confidence that the Iran deal will change matters.

Personally, I worry when ambassadors are independently wealthy or have powerful political connections. I agree with the conclusion that an ambassador should be representative of all his or her country’s political interests.

Personally, I agree with the Republicans on this issue of Iran and think that Obama’s foreign policy with Iran has been risky. However, I can see that the issues created by the ambassador not following normal channels and just picking up the phone to his friend, the Israeli Prime Minister.
