Newspapers around the World will pick up this latest evidence over the next few days. But I fear little will change. Why?

Simply, in many developed countries, fat people are in the majority and politicians are scared of upsetting them. Forget the nationalists, the next election might be dominated by the ‘fat classes’.

Surely, it’s time for responsible governments to attack rising obesity, even if some of the policies are not popular?
