In an insightful article, the Jerusalem Post lines up Israeli experts to explore the implications of the ISIS attack in Tehran. It considers that while a more inward-looking Islamic Republic is “a possibility, another possibility is that because of the importance of the sites attacked, Iran will take major revenge against ISIS.”

The article provides some excellent insight into contemporary political challenges in Iran.

So far, the Jerusalem Post seems to be way ahead of the major Western mainstream media sources in its analysis.

It will be interesting to see the reaction of the Trump government in the US. Will US and Iranian interests combine against terrorism?

A new option to terrorism, quagmire in Middle East? – English pravda.ru

In Pravda‘s most read news story, it focuses on Putin shooting his arrows straight into the bulls’ eyes restoring Russian influence in the Middle East and in the world.

This strongly nationalistic article talks of Russis defeating ISIS in six to twelve months if Obama does not meddle.

It’s interesting to compare the Pravda article to the much more restrained Russian news agency TASS‘s  article and also the US news agency, NBC that reports that the US is fearful of Russia’s next move following increasing evidence that the Sinai disaster was a terrorist attack.

With the increasing escalation and associated risks, surely it would be preferable to have a strategy approved by the United Nations Security Council?
