War Horse – A Personal View

War Horse (film)

We went to see War Horse last night in Bath, UK. It had just been released and was a full house.

The epic Spielberg production was brilliantly made and acted but rather depressing.

At the end of the film, you could hear a pin drop as everybody seemed a bit numbed. The photography and portrayal of World War One were excellent.

Unfortunately, if you are an animal lover like my wife and myself, it is easy to be stunned by the apparent cruelty to animals. Of course, at this time the horse was still very much a work animal. We reflected that perhaps we are more used to seeing brutality to humans than animals in films and on the TV – a bit sad really.
