According to this editorial from the influential People’s Daily, China’s leading newspaper, steady and healthy trade ties between China and the United States will benefit both countries and the global economy.
For me, a favorable result is now more likely with Bannon’s demotion away from foreign affairs, with Trump’s very sharp son-in-law,Kushner, consolidating power.

Bannon is a crusading Jesuit who sees an inevitable war between militant Islam and the West.
The reality is that to fully contain militant Islam Sudi Arabia,Turkey and Iran all have to be brought to heel and for that it will take China,Russia and the West working together.
As Dr Alf alludes Jared Kushner,Trump’s son in law probably has a better grasp of this realpolitik than the crazed Bannon and others who think like him like Samuel Huntingdon.
Kushner can be a more moderating influence on Trump along with his military advisor General Mattis so it is best that Bannon be moved to where he cannot create havoc.
