According to WEF, tackling gender inequality and enabling more women to join the workforce could boost the world’s economy by $12 trillion over the next decade, with India set to benefit the most.

The WEF argue that workplace equality could be achieved sooner if countries improve women’s access to education, financial services and digital technology, offering greater legal protection and reduce time spent doing unpaid work, such as childcare and cleaning, the report said.

This raises an important open question:

Given the massive economic gains from redressing gender inequality, are policy-makers constrained by prejudice within priviliged minorities, especially in countries like India?
