Dr Alf is correct, when he says that a compromise deal can be sold to all sides, that it is time for Greece to be rebuilt and that Greece must reform.
Sadly, history shows us that Greece promises reform until it gets the money it wants, then resumes its old irresponsible and profligate ways and then runs out of money. Then it wheedles, pleads, talks about the “will of the Greek people”, gets more money by pleading poverty and inducing guilt, until it again runs out of money. Greece seems incapable of reform but more importantly, unwilling to pay the price of reform in terms of creating a work eth
ic in its population, and making and selling things that people want and are willing to pay for.
Once upon a time, thousands of years ago Greece was a beacon to the world – now it has become an economic basket case, with wealthy families who plunder it for personal gain.
Keeping Greece in the euro is probably throwing good money after bad and I fear that it is a lost cause.
I think that it may well be time for Greece to be encouraged to leave the Eurozone and find her own way in the World.
